- ➤ Stockton mourns the loss of Don King, the pitmaster and owner of Fat City Brew & BBQ who battled cancer as announced on Oct. 30. His restaurant stayed open on Oct. 31 to honor his memory with Budweisers—bringing the community together in tribute to his legacy. The Stockton Record

- ➤ In October, Stockton’s Shared Light Collective directed by Jessica Spencer and the Hippodrome Theatre produced their own renditions of The Rocky Horror Show—each offering a distinct take on the cult musical. The Shared Light Collective staged its inclusive show at the Hatch Workshop on Oct 22 while the Hippodrome, which presented 12 showings including one today at 8 p.m., delivered a high-energy performance at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds. - ➤ The Haggin Museum in Stockton will close its Caterpillar history exhibit and Lora Webb Nichols photography display Sunday — offering residents a final glimpse of our local past. - ➤ Federal judges ordered on Friday that over $8 billion a month in SNAP and CalFresh funds be released to help Stockton food banks cope with a surge in clients before the cutoff. The Emergency Food Bank said its drive-thru line grew from about 450 to over 550 vehicles and is seeking donations from local groups—steps taken to ease the strain on food resources. Stocktonia
- ➤ San Joaquin County will offer 22 free food distributions in November for eligible residents who meet income guidelines. The Food For You program will begin Nov. 5 at sites in Stockton, Lodi, Tracy and neighboring areas + residents must bring their own bag and complete eligibility documents to receive canned and dry goods.
