Good morning, Stockton.

Stockton hosts several community events this weekend including the PDGA Champions Cup at Swenson Park Golf Course and the Cinco de Mayo Festival and parade at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds with a parade beginning at 10 a.m. on May 4.

Other events include free stargazing at Oak Grove Regional Park at sunset — free admission today at The Haggin Museum and a Delta College student art exhibition at Horton Art Gallery offer more family-friendly options.

Stockton police are investigating a shooting that occurred last night at 10:15 p.m. on Lafayette and San Joaquin where two teenagers were shot—one, a 17 year old identified as Isaac Ramon Quinto, died while the other remains critically injured and no suspect has been identified.

On Tuesday, the Stockton City Council rejected an $825,000 homelessness pilot program after staff found that the nonprofit Inner City Action was not properly vetted for its CARE plan to move encampment residents to a temporary tent shelter (3635 Calaveras Ave.).

The council directed staff to rework the proposal and return in 30 days with more verifications and options.

The 2025 PDGA Champions Cup is underway at Swenson Park Golf Course with top disc golf pros, thousands of fans, a $150k prize purse, and family-friendly vendor booths—marking California’s first mixed pro major since 2011.

The event also features an international team showdown and local efforts to bring disc golf to schools.
