  • On Friday, over 100 golfers attended the sold-out tournament at Stockton Golf & Country Club hosted by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The event provided breakfast, lunch, and vendor booths — funds that support chamber programs and scholarships for local students — and community leaders praised its role in strengthening local business ties.  Stocktonia
  • Today, Stockton hosts a busy weekend with monster truck shows at Stockton Dirt Track starting at 3 p.m.—car races at Stockton 99 Speedway begin at 6 p.m., live music at Windmill Cove starts at 2 p.m., and a Mother’s Day Market at The Well will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A guided tour at Lodi Boathouse will take place Sunday at 8:30 a.m.—offering a calm option for families to enjoy the festivities.  Stocktonia

CRIME NEWS

  • Stockton police say Adam Lopez (38) is accused of killing Leanalea Lala Leanos (27) who was reported missing in November 2024; officers arrested him Tuesday and later found her remains.  KCRA
  • Three inmates were convicted of first-degree murder for killing 49-year-old Armando Salgado—a low-risk inmate with no gang ties—on June 24th in the Honor Farm facility of the jail.  The Stockton Record

ECONOMY NEWS

  • New data shows that apartment rents in San Joaquin County went up a little in April as the average rent moved from $1,628 in March to $1,641. One-bedroom and two-bedroom prices both rose by about 0.8% (a modest increase) while staying below the state average.  The Stockton Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Special education students showcased their skills and sold handmade items like dog treats and tote bags at the annual farmers market held on April 24 at the San Joaquin County Office of Education—gaining valuable experience in sales and money handling for future jobs.  The Stockton Record

  • On Tuesday night, Stockton City Council unanimously approved the 2025–2029 Consolidated Plan to spend about $4.9M in federal housing and community development funds beginning July 1 for projects that support affordable housing, homelessness prevention and public infrastructure—the plan now goes to HUD for final approval.  Stocktonia
