- ➤ Stockton has unveiled new murals made by local elementary school students that are now on display at a garage near the district attorney’s office. The murals—created with contributions from two Lodi elementary schools and one Lodi daycare—are part of a project coordinated by San Joaquin County Capital Projects. KCRA

- ➤ San Joaquin County sheriff’s deputies fatally shot 41-year-old Gregory Fitzgerald on a Stockton rooftop last month after he repeatedly warned he had a gun and pulled an object that looked like a handgun— later it was confirmed he was not armed. Stocktonia
EDUCATION NEWS

- ➤ San Joaquin County launched a confidential hotline operated by EthicsPoint for employees and the public to report fraud, abuse+ misuse of resources. Auditor-Controller Jeffery Woltkamp said 10 reports have already been received and that the county will follow up within 10 business days if a report falls under its jurisdiction. Stocktonia
- ➤ Governor Newsom proposed cutting red tape to fast-track the $20 billion Delta tunnel project that aims to move water to the south. Local officials in San Joaquin County and state legislators warned the plan could hurt local farms, fisheries, and water supplies — and they called for safer alternatives. Stocktonia
- ➤ Stockton City Council voted 6-0 to approve a resolution directing city staff to display the Pride Flag at City Hall each year during the first week of June — and to fly military flags on their establishment dates.
