- ➤ Stockton’s Weber Point Events Center is temporarily closed for fountain repairs and will reopen on June 24 for scheduled city events only. Three splash pads at Gleason Park, Iloilo Park and Smith Park are open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Labor Day—while the Faklis Park splash pad remains closed pending electrical repairs. - ➤ The Gold Star Families Memorial Monument was unveiled at the Richard Pittman VA Clinic in French Camp on May 23rd — the event honored fallen soldiers with a dedicated granite bench. - ➤ Former Stockton golf pro Mykal Parsons, aged 44, was arrested on May 8 on suspicion of embezzling $147,000 from Elkhorn Golf Club, and he is scheduled to appear in court on June 11 at 8:30 a.m. The Stockton Record
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Seven environmental groups and a Native American tribe alleged on May 16 that water policies (including those of the State Water and Central Valley Projects) are harming endangered chinook salmon and steelhead in the Delta and Bay estuary by enabling excessive water releases under voluntary agreements.
