- ➤ Stockton veteran Dez Del Barba, who survived necrotizing fasciitis, was honored by county and city officials on May 13—proclaiming May 31 as Necrotizing Fasciitis Awareness Day and naming May as National Tennis Month to mark his journey in adaptive sports. Dez now trains as a wheelchair tennis athlete in San Diego and hopes to continue inspiring others with his recovery and determination. The Stockton Record
