- ➤ A solo car crash occurred today on eastbound Highway 4 just east of Tracy Boulevard in San Joaquin County when a car went off the roadway into Trapper Slough (CHP was dispatched at 3:52 a.m.) (possible major injuries were reported). KCRA
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The San Joaquin County Fair in Stockton runs through Sunday and will feature a Cambodian American concert on Saturday night from 5:30 to 8 p.m.—performers Khmer1Jivit and Ith Sreypin will share their rich cultural heritage with fairgoers. Producer Daron Ker said the event is meant to present the community’s culture and may lead to a Cambodia Day celebration at the fairgrounds in September. Stocktonia

- ➤ Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency for San Joaquin County after a failed section of the Victoria Island Levee released an estimated 6,000 gallons per minute last fall+ his office authorized additional work to reinforce the levee before more rain arrived. Stocktonia
- ➤ Stockton Congressman Josh Harder spoke Thursday at a fire station in Tracy to thank first responders for protecting homes and lives during the 2024 Corral Fire, which began on June 1 and burned over 14,000 acres in San Joaquin County. The fire burned more than 10,000 acres of grass on its first day and took five days to contain — Sunday will mark its first anniversary. KCRA
