  • San Joaquin County will host 23 free food distributions this month under the Food For You program — several stops include Stockton where residents can get shelf-stable foods like vegetables, fruit, and rice; eligibility requires self-certification and meeting income guidelines as food may run out early.  The Stockton Record

CRIME NEWS

  • San Joaquin County Sheriff’s deputies arrested three people near Waterloo and Fairchild roads for stealing about $2,000 in cherries and causing similar damage—this incident adds to a tough year for local cherry growers.  Stocktonia
  • Former court clerk Pamela Edwards appeared in court this week after her arrest last fall for allegedly releasing a sealed document to reporters, pleaded not guilty in March and is set for a jury trial assignment in Stockton on June 13.  Stocktonia
  • Cherry growers in San Joaquin County lost thousands as two thefts occurred—one on Sunday in Morada where over $2,000 in damage was inflicted and tree branches were broken, preventing future growth for three years, and one on Monday in Linden with over $500 stolen—which led to the arrest of four suspects after ledgers linked them to similar thefts statewide.  KCRA

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Monday, June 2, the Progress Pride flag was raised in front of Stockton City Hall to mark the start of Pride Month, and local officials along with community members celebrated the event. The ceremony featured speeches from city leaders and symbolized a call for unity.  The Stockton Record

  • Stockton has shifted responsibility for public records requests from the city manager’s office to the city clerk’s office.
