AGRICULTURE NEWS

  • A bill passed by the California Assembly on June 4 aimed to help preserve bees that pollinate crops — the measure is expected to support San Joaquin County farmers by protecting these essential pollinators.  Stocktonia

  • Chuze Fitness opened its first Stockton gym at Pacific Town Center — joining local retailers and giving residents a new option for workouts.  The Stockton Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The San Joaquin County Human Services Agency will host free food distributions throughout June for eligible households in Stockton, Tracy, Lodi and other parts of the county as part of its Food For You program—items include canned vegetables, fruits, meats and dry foods. Events are scheduled on June 4, today, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 25 at different locations while income eligibility guidelines apply.  Stocktonia
  • Stockton officials said that only fireworks carrying the State Fire Marshal’s safe and sane seal can be sold and used in the city, with sales by 30 nonprofit operators beginning noon on June 28. Local agencies will work with police and fire departments to enforce the law and issue fines for violations — $1,000 for a first offense, $2,000 for a second, and $3,000 for further offenses — to help keep residents safe.  Stocktonia
