COMMUNITY NEWS

  • More than 200 Stockton residents gathered at Victory Park to protest recent ICE raids — echoing similar demonstrations across the country.  The Stockton Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, a large pothole closed one lane of westbound I-580 just east of Mountain House, causing heavy traffic in San Joaquin County. The California Highway Patrol said the lane will reopen around 8 p.m.—drivers are urged to use alternate routes.  KCRA
  • The Stockton City Council approved the 2024 Economic Development Subsidy Annual Report, which reported over $6.9 million in subsidies to boost housing, business and development and passed a $7.2 million budget for parks, streets and maintenance at a recent meeting. They also approved workforce vacancy and drainage maintenance reports (votes were 6-0 and 7-0) with no public protests noted.  Stocktonia
  • On April 8, 2025, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s effort to fast track the Delta Conveyance Tunnel was rejected by a budget subcommittee that preferred using the normal legislative process—three senators, including one from Stockton, voted against the proposal. The governor said he has broad support from other lawmakers and community leaders and hopes further budget negotiations will address his plan before the July 1 deadline.  Stocktonia
