🏛️ Government
Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi dissolved the city manager ad hoc committee without council approval and accused Councilmember Enríquez of breaching confidentiality and public meeting rules; council policy requires a vote to change such committees.
The hiring firm will now lead the search for candidates—critics say this move reduces the council’s input in the process.
📰 Real Estate
RentCafe’s report released on June 26 shows that six California cities, including Anaheim, Sunnyvale, Stockton, Bakersfield, San Jose, and Los Angeles, rank among the worst for renters in 2025 due to low scores in housing cost, local economy, and quality of life.
The study reviewed 150 U.S. cities on 20 factors like apartment quality and traffic—revealing that while San Diego is California’s best for renters, Oakland and Fresno ranked better than the lowest ones.
