- ➤ At about 7:58 a.m. on Thursday, Stockton police reported that a former CHP officer from Lodi is suspected of a murder-suicide after he shot a man at a CrossFit gym on West Eight Mile Road—he is also suspected of killing his wife in Garden Grove, with the Stockton man in critical condition. - ➤ Sheriff Patrick Withrow said eight suspects were arrested after a June 19 gang-related kidnapping and torture in Manteca—with help from the Stockton and Manteca police departments, the Stanislaus County SWAT team and the FBI—with six suspects arraigned last Thursday and scheduled to return to court next Thursday on felony charges including kidnapping and assault.
