CRIME NEWS

  • Stockton families have mourned the loss of five teenagers killed by gun violence this year, with shootings on February 1, March 5, and April 9 — and local police have made arrests in three cases while one remains unsolved.  KCRA
  • A 19-year-old woman was shot and killed on Thursday night in Stockton when officers located her just before 10:30 p.m.—she was found in the 6300 block of North El Dorado Street near Anderson Park and taken to a nearby hospital with no suspect details released, marking Stockton's 24th homicide of the year.  KCRA

HEALTH NEWS

  • San Joaquin County health officials reported a 13.8% rise in valley fever cases with 272 provisional cases through July 1, surpassing last year’s count during the same period. The lung infection is caused by a soil fungus that mainly affects outdoor workers—prompting health experts to advise precautions in dusty conditions.  Stocktonia

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Data from Realtor.com shows that the median home in San Joaquin County listed for $595,000 in July—down from $598,495 the previous month—and new listings increased by 33.1% with homes remaining on the market for a median of 47 days. The report covers only existing single-family homes, condominiums and townhomes.  The Stockton Record
  • Data from Realtor.com shows that in May the median home sale price in San Joaquin County dropped to $543,500—down 6.3% from April’s $580,000—and recorded sales decreased by 5.4% from 634 to 600 transactions.  The Stockton Record

  • Two local women are trying out for the new Women’s Professional Baseball League—more than 600 players will compete from today until August 25 at the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy and Nationals Park. Stockton’s Marissa Trevino, who made her high school varsity team, joins the effort to launch a league set to begin play in 2026—she aims to make history by showing her talent at the field.  Stocktonia
