- ➤ Over Labor Day weekend, Stockton police confirmed that two men were fatally shot and a British woman died in a hit-and-run, with a suspect arrested on Sunday (investigations continue as detectives follow separate leads) and victims identified as Richard Galindo, Pete Valverde, and Kulwinder Singh. - ➤ Stockton residents can attend town halls at Delta College where newly elected city council members and county supervisors will update their progress and future plans and answer community questions. - ➤ A California bill passed Tuesday requires schools to have plans to notify parents when immigration enforcement is on campus—this law, which applies to CSU schools and community colleges and asks UC campuses to send alerts, will remain in effect until 2031 pending Gov. - ➤ Stockton City Council adopted a new policy that lets councilmembers ask the city clerk in writing for the removal of their own board appointees — this change passed by a 7-0 vote on Aug. 26 and streamlines the process for volunteer members on boards, commissions and committees.
