GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Stockton's Office of Violence Prevention launched Tap In—a 24/7 hotline and wrist bracelet service that gives youth in crisis a direct line to a peacekeeper to help steer them away from gangs and gun violence. Director Lora Larson said the program follows teen fatalities reported by Stockton police and that former gang member Antonio Hernandez will now answer calls at all hours. KCRA
- ➤ Stockton City Council approved $1.24 million on July 15 to fund the long-delayed Pathways Neighborhood shelter—this project will provide 160 low barrier housing units and essential services to help address the city’s growing homelessness crisis. Stocktonia
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Lodi Fire Department launched enhanced emergency care on Monday when paramedics joined fire engines for 911 calls—this system, 20 years in the making, now has seven new paramedics active with 15 more joining next year and a new partnership with the fire departments in Stockton and Tracy to improve care across the county.
