Good morning, Stockton.

Michelle Rodriguez—Stockton Unified School District's superintendent since July 2023—won two national awards on Sept 19 that recognized her over 30 years in school administration.

She said she will use the honors to boost district programs.

Retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather and comedian Kevin Hart each donated $50,000 to a political action committee backing Mayor Christina Fugazi's run last election — Vice Mayor Jason Lee later criticized the contributions and noted his own $70,000 donation in a Facebook video.

The owners of three elder care facilities—including A1 Del Monte Inc. in Stockton—agreed to pay $145,000 in civil penalties to settle allegations they failed to staff properly and conduct required background checks.

Monterey and San Joaquin County prosecutors said the settlement bars the Sainis from running the Pacific Grove facility and requires stricter staffing procedures at all sites.
