Good morning, Stockton. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 25th of September.

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Lathrop High School student was hit by a car last week near the school and is in critical condition—officials say planned safety improvements include installing a crossing signal by week's end and providing a bus system for students.  KCRA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At Tuesday’s meeting, Stockton City Council members debated proposed rules that set how ad hoc committees are created and disbanded, and an initial vote defeated the proposal. After reopening the discussion—members agreed to make required reports optional—and the compromise passed, signaling a change in council procedures.  Stocktonia
  • Before today, Stockton City Council voted against the Delta Conveyance Project—also called the Delta Tunnel—citing worries that the plan would lower water quality and hurt fish, wildlife and local farms. The 45-mile tunnel, meant to move water from the north to the south, could damage Delta farms that have been here for generations.  KCRA
