EDUCATION NEWS

  • Franklin High School in Stockton is celebrating its 75th anniversary on Oct. 3—public festivities include food trucks, a car show, and an alumni celebration, with events starting at 5:00 pm before the junior varsity game and Homecoming at the varsity halftime. Attendees can enjoy a full day of school pride and community spirit.  KCRA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, the Stockton Audit Committee approved the city’s clean financial report for the 2023-24 fiscal year—which shows the general fund increased by $27.7 million and a 13.4% rise from the previous year—and the report will move to City Council for final review. The report also noted a $168.7 million gain in net position along with some internal control shortcomings.  Stocktonia
  • Drivers on Highway 99 near Manteca will face full overnight closures at Austin Road from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. through Friday for roadwork on the Highway-to-Highway State Route 99/120 Connector Project—crews will install girders for a new bridge and work is expected to continue for several weeks until early November.  KCRA
