Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 1st of October.
Good morning, Stockton.
🚧 Accidents
On Monday morning, a garage fire at a Cameron Park home caused smoke damage but was quickly put out by neighbor Jamesley Giblin—an off-duty firefighter with Cal Fire AEU’s Ponderosa Fire Crew—who stopped on his way to work, and the family escaped safely.
Cleanup continues as the cause of the fire remains unclear.
🏛️ Government
On Sept. 29, election officials at the County Administration Building in downtown Stockton tested nearly 2,000 ballots using voting machines that produced a perfect count — confirming the secure system met California law requirements ahead of November's Proposition50 vote.
Officials said the trial ensures free and fair elections and that community volunteers are welcomed to help run the upcoming election.
